Sunday School Lessons and Morals

With the complexity that our world has nowadays, most of us tend to become worldlier and preoccupied with material possessions. Some attend church but their thoughts are not concentrated with the idea that attending religious services is a way to serve God. However, we should feel the need of paying more attention to our spirituality and finally serve the Lord by being serious regarding the services that we need to accomplish in church. Some parents who want to have their children achieve a more meaningful life by enriching their spirituality decide to enroll their children in Sunday school. Most of us do not realize the value that this activity causes to our children. Little do we know, apart from being taught of the teachings of God, a child will have a spiritual uplifting once that he attends this activity. Here are some reasons why it is a good option to let your child attend Sunday school.First, your child will learn more about God’s teachings and therefore, acquire the much needed values that he has to learn and show towards his family and peers. As we all know, it is a divine imperative that we should know the teachings of God. People nowadays focus on material and self development, but they completely forget that one should grow spiritually as well. Material things are fleeting, and they cannot, in any way, be used except during the course of our earthly existence. Sunday school will help children realize the value of spiritual development in his life. At an early age, your child will be more aware of the values that the Lord exemplifies, and this will somehow improve his relationship with his peers.Second, once that your children have learned the words of God, he can now influence other people to be more Christ-like in their actions. As what has been said, this activity will help them realize the values that the Lord wants us all to learn. By knowing these values, they will apply what they have learned in their everyday lives. They will be more aware of their actions and they will be more conscious about exhibiting good characteristics towards their peers. Third, there will be a lot of opportunities for your child to mingle and socialize with their peers in Sunday school. As we all know, Sunday school will have the same classroom set-up that they are already used to have. They will be able to interact with children of their own age while learning more about the gospel. So as you can see, one would certainly enjoy going to Sunday school. Letting your child have some Sunday school lessons presents a lot of positive thoughts. They will also be able to know more about the gospel of Christ so that he would be more spiritually enlightened. With this in mind, there is no doubt that parents should have their children enrolled in such activity. They will not only have a good spiritual foundation, but they will also learn how to socialize with their peers.

Mistakes

Mistakes, we all make them, but then again mistakes arent bad thing but rather feedback on how we are doing. Winners make far more mistakes then losers. Thats why there winners. They are getting more feedback as they continue to try possibilities. The only trouble with losers is that they regard a mistake as such a big event and get discouraged while failing to recognise the positive side to making mistakes.

We learn far more from our mistakes then our successes, when we lose, we contemplate, we analyse, we regroup, we plan a new stratugy. When we win we simply celebrate and learn very little. Another reason to welcome our errors.

So let us accept our mistakes and welcome them as part as a learning process. The shame is never having failed but rather it is ONLY in never trying.

PMR

Hey ppl. How is your week? I'll bet its been study & revisions. But is it necessary?
I've talked to many friends at school about PMR and they said target A for science, maths and english to get into science stream or flunk and get into arts stream. But PMR is not important. SPM is.

I asked my teachers and their reply was brisk and snappy, just study for your PMR as it will affect your future. I asked my friends again and they said why listen to your teacher, they are only telling you to do what they want you to do. Seems that they were right(my friends).

i've got a pal who's working at a dvd store and he's earning enough to care for himself(he dropped out of school), another one who's earning enough to support a family(he's earning RM4k a month) and they both are not paying full attention to studying. They're working and supporting themselves. i asked them about PMR and their reply was alah PMR only ma... fail then fail loh.

i'm not studying much either, mostly ponteng classes when teacher is not looking at us or is distracted by other students, chatting, vandalising chairs and a bit more. But don't get carried away by what i typed. This is me, not you and the way I'm doing things now is off the charts for studying.

Just do what you think is right and pray to God for guidance and help, then you'll be fine.

M&Ms and positive qualities

Hey guys,

In case you missed class today, the topic of discussion was on acknowledging that every one of us are uniquely designed by God. We had a pretty 'sweet' time, passing around M&Ms and sharing good qualities we see in ourselves. Here's a brief summary of the discussion:

Most of us are quite familiar with the Asian culture we grew up in of 'not acknowledging our strengths' to avoid coming across as boastful or 'prasan'. Although there is absolutely nothing wrong with being modest about our abilities, the problem with this kind of mentality is that it gradually builds up into a negative perspective of who you are.

All our physical attributes, your personality, the way you think, your experiences, your passions, your abilities, and even your failures make up the unique person you are. Nothing about you is a mistake.

One example we discussed is if we went shopping (e.g. to FOS) and found a really gorgeous shirt (e.g. billabong) worth RM45.90. And just when you've decided to get it because it was the only one left, you found a make-up stain on the collar of the shirt. Would you buy it? Has the value of the shirt depreciated significantly? It is always easier to see the stains than the masterpiece.

Sometimes we think of the horrible things that have left us scarred for life. You may think that the stains can erase your value. In truth, God is using even the stains to restore the masterpiece (you) to greater glory. Even your faults and painful experiences are becoming part of your beauty.

Key Verses: Eph 2:10 , Psalm 139:13-16
Prayer: Ask God to help you see past your flaws to the masterpiece He made you to be.

bless,
mich.

First class with a blog!

Heya guys,

It is my pleasure to declare this blog open!
(kudos to Moses for suggesting this excellent idea)

The reason we decided to set up a blog of our own is to keep everyone (the newbies and those who missed class) up to date on what's happening! Because we know there's something awesome happening every week!

This is no reason you should skip class on Sundays cos really the best (juiciest!) stuff always happens during class of course.

More will be added to spice up this new space of ours, we will happily allow those who are interested to update it, and of course, beautify it to be our marvelous Moderators!

Reminder:

  1. There will be no classes this Sunday (7th Sept) so we'll see you guys at the Main Hall for Family Service! The youth worship team will be leading worship this week so please come on time 11am.
  2. Lunch is still on, for those of you who will be joining us please contact either King Wai, Desmond or Michelle to arrange transportation.

bless,
Mich. (In case you haven't heard, I'm back.)
